Build Your Own Shed – Surprisingly Simple Ways to Build Your Own Shed

Build Your Own Shed – Surprisingly Simple Ways to Build Your Own Shed

Imagine how jealous your neighbor will be when he sees your brand new shed and you tell him you built it yourself! You’ll be admired on the block. You can build your own shed too but first you need a good set of plans.

You need to consider a few things first before you start building your own shed and I can speak from experience on this…my good friend tried building his own shed a few years back without a set of plans’ a material list or even a clue as to what the finished project would look like….mistake!

Not verysmart because he spent a ton of money on this trial and error approach, not to mention the wasted weekends he could have been spending with his wife and kids. My friend, I learned a lesson from his misery, you know they say misery loves company…well I didn’t want to be “company” so I went out and found me a great set of plans.

Also since he was flying by the seat of his pants, not only did he spend way to much money and miss time with his family he also got into trouble and had to tear the first attempt down because he didn’t get the proper permits or permission from the homeowners association. With the proper set of plans he would have known all of this before he even startedbuilding.

Learn this lesson well…You need a good set of plans and the time and trouble it will save you verses creating your own is money well spent. Make sure the plans come with a good material list as well as a cut chart showing you what size to cut your wood. This is pretty cool because you buy all the material and cut it all to size before you hammer in your first nail. This is not something you can do if you don’t have a set of professional construction plans.

Now the next important things to consider are:

  • The location of the shed.
  • What you will be using it for.
  • Design it to match your house or other out – buildings.

Taking some time to consider these things will help the overall project run smoothly and will save you both time and money when you decide to build your own shed.
